my virtual memory is running low is there anyway of increasing it or to make my PC faster?How can i change the virtual memory on my PC?
XP system:
click on Start-%26gt; Control Panel-%26gt; Performance and Maintenance-%26gt; System-%26gt;
System Properties page comes up, now click on the ';Advanced'; tab
Under Performance, click on ';Settings';
Performance Options page comes up, now click on the ';Advanced'; tab
There should be a heading that says Virtual Memory, with a ';change'; button, click on that.
Select the hard drive that you wish to change the size of the paging file (virtual memory), and then manage the size accordingly. Or you can just click on system managed size and let Windows decide what's best.
If you wish to make your PC a bit faster try:
Defragment your hard drive(s)
Add another hard drive and enable virtual memory on that drive
Get rid of unnecessary startup programs/processes
Get more Ram if you haven't already maximized the motherboards quota.How can i change the virtual memory on my PC?
Hi, right click on my computer,click properties, click advanced, click on settings where it says performance, then you can change the settings of virtual memory
windows manages your virtual memory you shouldn't need to touch it but what can give your problems with virtual memory is if you're running out of disk space
virtual memory is a file on you hard drive that windows uses as extra memory when you haven't got enough physical memory a shortage of hard drive space will give you that error you should have at least 5GB free more if possible
but if you want to change you settings to manual and assuming you have a xp machine here's how
first of all your virtual memory needs to be at least one and a half times your physical memory in other words if you have 512mb ram you physical memory need to be set to 768mb
now click on start and right click on my computer click properties click the advanced tab click the performance settings button at the bottom of the box under virtual memory click the change button click custom size and put a number in the initial size box but the same number in the maximum size box click ok click apply if it's highlighted or ok if not to close the extra boxes now reboot for changes to take effect
